24 July 2009: coming soon - TSKTSKING by Chris Corsano and John Edwards

We are incredibly excited to announce that the next full-length LP on Dancing Wayang Records is a meeting of two of the most boundary pushing musicians we know: drummer CHRIS CORSANO and double bassist JOHN EDWARDS. We feel very lucky to have had the chance to get these two into the studio so shortly before Chris’s relocation to the states early this year.
Their offering is entitled “TSKTSKING” and comes housed in hand-screenprinted and hand-numbered (limited to 500) wrap around sleeves designed by Dancing Wayang artist and printmaker Midori Ogata. Very funny and funnily honest liner notes have been penned specially for this release by Evan Parker. And if that weren’t enough, the first 100 copies of the LP will come with our now customary 3” bonus CDR featuring two cuts from the album session.
Check back here or sign up to our mailing list to be notified as soon as we start taking pre-orders for this LP.
On a different note, we’ve had an unexpected find of 10 copies of the long sold-out MOTOR GHOST LP “A Gold Chain Round Her Breast”. Order one of these freeform explosions by drummer Alex Neilson and guitarist Ben Reynolds now if you haven’t got one yet… and before it’s too late forever.
We have 3 final copies of the bonus disk edition of ASTRAL SOCIAL CLUB’s “Plug Music Ramoon” LP. This edition is limited to only 100 copies. The 3” CDR features 4 outtakes from the album session featuring Neil Campbell, John Clyde Evans and Stewart Keith. Again, don’t sleep if you want a copy of these little gems, which come in rubber stamped, silver paper sleeves.
Visit our releases page for more details on both of these records.
24 December 2008: ASTRAL SOCIAL CLUB's full length LP "Plug Music Ramoon" is out now and available directly from us for £10 plus postage. Please be aware that the bonus disk edition, limited to 100 copies only, is selling very fast! Don't sleep if you want to be sure to grab one of those.
Visit the releases and ordering pages for more info.
13 November 2008: Friends and neighbours. Crank up your volume!
We are excited to announce that the impending Dancing Wayang release is by the loud and the mighty ASTRAL SOCIAL CLUB!
UK noise stalwart Neil Campbell invited kindred spirits John Clyde-Evans and Stewart Keith to join him in Astral bliss and together they recorded a glorious album of fearless chaos.
Entitled "Plug Music Ramoon", this 12" LP was recorded onto 2" analogue tape at Dancing Wayang's regular haunt, Eastcote Studios in London. It comes housed in a beautiful hand-pulled, silkscreened wrap-around sleeve.
Two short(ish) sonic explosions and two looooong journeys to sustained ecstasy combine percussive sticks and bells, resonant electronics, keyboard odysseys and some experimental vocal work from helmsman Campbell. Along with his accomplices they weave a rich tapestry of sound and noise.
As per our previous releases, the first 100 copies will come with a 3" bonus CDR. Featuring the reworking of a session outtake by Neil, "Black Note Maroon # 1-4" crams four tracks onto its tiny silver surface.
And finally, to top things off, these first 100 copies will also be housed in sleeves printed with a special colour blending technique. No two are the same!
Email orders@dancingwayang.com to place your pre-orders now and avoid disappointment.
18 March 2008: FINALLY - Ladies and Gents! The new Directing Hand LP is out and available to buy from us now.
Captured at Eastcote Studios in London, drummer extraordinaire Alex Neilson and classically trained soprano and multi-instrumentalist Lavinia Blackwall cut loose, turn it up, turn it down and let the air escape their lungs. The result is raw beauty in every way possible and we are incredibly excited to unleash this record onto the world.
Consisting of freely improvised tracks on drums, harp and wordless vocals as well as interpretations and reinterpretations of traditional English folk songs, "What Put The Blood" is a true gem. The LP is housed in hand screenprinted wrap-around sleeves designed by Lavinia and features exclusive liner notes by Volcanic Tongue's David Keenan. Go to releases to find out more.
Once again, the first 100 copies of the LP come with a free bonus 3" CDR. Four songs recorded by Lavinia Blackwall in the studio right after the Directing Hand sessions introduce the scope of her talent. Utilizing electric organs, guitars, grand piano and her pure soprano voice, she hauntingly performs two traditional English folk songs and two of her own compositions. The disk comes in a handmade sleeve letterpressed with a Masonic image from Lavinia’s collection. But... don't sleep! These are given away on a first come first serve basis and will be gone before long.
We have a very few copies of MOTOR GHOST’s “A Gold Chain Round Her Breast” left for sale. This 12” LP, limited to a run of 300, is Alex Neilson and Ben Reynold’s debut freeform explosion.
02 March 2008: Directing Hand are hitting the road this month and will be playing at a venue near you! Lavinia Blackwall (harp / vox) and Alex Neilson (drums / vox) will be playing a combination of their own songs, traditional folk songs and improvisations based out of early music melodies. Go and check them out. They might even have a few advance copies of the imminent Dancing Wayang LP to sell!
